Cuckmere Haven

I’ve just come back from a few days away near the East Sussex coast. Bridget was doing a day and a half workshop on bookbinding in Lewes so on Friday I took the opportunity to go down to the west side of the Cuckmere to photograph the Seven Sisters from the west. A month ago we’d been down at Birling Gap at the east end of the Sisters and in a couple of weeks time we’ll be there again on a workshop.

The coast down here there is subject to alot of erosion and the coastguard cottages here perch precariously on a clifftop that is slowly disappearing. The Seven Sisters themselves are now becoming eight as a new hilltop, or Brow, is being formed by the erosion.
