Up next - Medway Open Studios

It’s been a hive of activity here over the past few weeks. Not much time for any actual photography but a lot of associated elements all, hopefully, about to come together for this coming weekend’s opening of the Medway Open Studios & Arts Festival. Photo editing, printing, bookbinding - we’ve been at it.

This will be the first festival since 2019 - the last two years’ having been cancelled due to ‘you-know-what’ - and it looks like it’s going to be a big one with over 65 artists, photographers and other creatives displaying their work across the Medway Towns in Kent. Some are using their own home or work studios for their exhibitions while others are joining together at shared locations for the week long event. For ourselves we’re teaming up with a few other artists. Bridget and I be displaying a small project on north Kent seaside architecture that’s been shot on and off since 2019 (that’s me), and another project on the Medway Viaducts (that’s Bridget) that took off during the first lockdown. Bridget will also be showing the book that came out of her project plus her handmade books such as that shown in the image above which incorporates some seashore shots taken in Scotland last February.

Medway Open Studios & Arts Festival runs from Saturday 2nd July to Sunday 10th July at various locations. Further information and a downloadable guide can be found at https://medwayopenstudios.org
